Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Sable, a pile Buff, overall a hawk swooping Proper grasping in its talons a terrestrial globe Celeste, landmasses and fimbriated Or. Attached around the bottom of the shield is a Black scroll inscribed "CONTINGENCY HAWKS" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff is the primary color traditionally used by Support units. The hawk, predator of great strength and speed, highlights the motto. The globe represents the Battalion's contingency missions in the Continental United States and outside of the Continental United States. It also highlights the unit's mission of the training and deployment of contracting officers and noncommissioned officers to provide contracting support to United States Army units worldwide. The contrast of buff and black signifies day and night, around the clock combat readiness. The triangular wedge pointing to the globe symbolizes the focus and determination of the Battalion.
